Protecting the Reef's Coastal Frontier (June 2019)

From the 10-16 June 2019, five teachers will travel to the Daintree Rainforest in north Queensland.

Here they will be acting as research assistants, exploring the Daintree river by boat and fringing mangrove forests on foot, assessing the condition of the mangrove ecosystem by conducting surveys, filming the shoreline, measuring trees, and conducting field biomass assessments.

Following the expedition, the teachers will be using their new scientific knowledge and research skills to develop engaging proejcts and lessons in STEM subjects back at their schools.
